Once you have successfully completed the training course YOU DO NOT HAVE a licence to operate a recreational vessel.
You must take your Statement of Competency given to you following the completion of the course/s to a Queensland Transport & Main Roads Customer Service Centre.
You have only 6 months from the date of issue of this Statement of Competency, for the issue or you licence/s. The current fee as of 1st July 2017 is $106:65 for the boat licence and $106:65 for the PWC (Jet Ski) Licence.
If you are applying for the issue of both licences the fee will be $205:20. There are no exams to complete at Queensland Transport & Main Roads.

Additional Information and Trainer Details
Boat Licence (RMDL) requirements
- It is a requirement of Maritime Safety Queensland that a person be 16 years of age or older to be issued with a Recreational Marine Drivers Licence. A person may attend the training once they are 15 years and 6 months of age.
- You must demonstrate you are competent to navigate and manage a recreational boat.
- You must complete a Medical Disclosure Statement.
- You must provide suitable identification.
- It does not matter where you live, you can attend the training in any of the Allstate Locations
- On successful completion of the course you will be issued with a Statement of Competency which must be validated at any Queensland Transport & Main Roads Customer Service Centre that issues marine licences. The Queensland Transport Licence fee is payable when your licence is issued.
Jetski (PWC) Licence requirements
- You must hold a current and valid marine licence before being able to obtain a personal watercraft licence.
- The PWC Licence training can be held on a different day to the boat licence training depending on local conditions.
What To Bring
Students are required to wear ENCLOSED FOOTWEAR and bring a form of photographic ID, pen, sunscreen, SUITABLE CLOTHING, SUNGLASSES and a HAT is recommended. Bring your CAMERA to help remember a great day.
For PWCs' I recommend WET GEAR such as TOGS and RASH SHIRT and maybe a WARM JACKET depending on the weather
Tea and coffee is available during the course. There is a suitable café / lunch bar within walking distance with a good range of food. Sufficient time is provided for course participants to have lunch if required.

Trainer Details
Welcome to the website for Allstate Boat licensing and Training for North Brisbane. We trust that the information on this site will assist you to obtain your boat and/or jet ski licence at our training facility. You will be dealing with an organisation with an enviable reputation, leading the industry in quality course delivery and total customer satisfaction.
We have well qualified and experienced instructors with extensive participation in the recreational and commercial maritime industry. Our comprehensive training courses are easy to follow, designed to accommodate everyone, from the first time boatie to the more experienced.
Our training is conducted at the Volunteer Marine Rescue Base on Allpass Parade / Sinbad St. Shorncliffe opposite the Sandgate Golf Club. There is a boat ramp here and a very suitable pontoon from which to board the training vessels.
Training can be conducted at other suitable locations if required.
The training courses for both the boat and jet ski are run on Sundays plus Saturdays when required and at least one day mid-week if there are sufficient numbers and other days are available by arrangement.
Large groups, schools and clubs are our speciality and can be accommodated and welcomed.
Our courses for both the boat and jet ski are usually conducted on the same day with some exceptions during the winter months or bad weather.
You will be supplied with a copy of the latest BoatSafe Workbook. This is yours to retain and it provides a very suitable reference for review and increasing your marine knowledge. There is no need to buy or bring any documentation as everything is provided at the course.
We ask people to arrive around 7.15 AM to complete the required paperwork and the combined theory course for the boat and PWC licences commence at 7.30 AM. The practical training and assessment will commence directly after and finish around 4.00 PM depending on numbers.
The on water training is conducted on the waters of Cabbage Tree creek and Bramble Bay being part of Moreton Bay. Consideration is always given to the weather conditions at the time. "Your safety is our priority"
The vessels used for the training are :-
5.7 m Quintrex Cruiseabout powered by Suzuki 150hp outboard and
215 hp SeaDoo GTX limited Edition Jet Ski.
Both vessels meet the survey and operating requirements of AMSA, Australian Maritime Safety Authority and MSQ, Maritime Safety Queensland.
